iTunesを使わないでiPodとiPhoneのファイルを管理するManage Files Directly without Using iTunes

    iTunesはiPodかiPhoneユーザには便利なツールではありますが、PCを変えると、途端に色々不都合が生じます。場合によっては、iPodやiPhoneにある音楽や動画などのコンテンツを全部削除されてしまうこともあります。
    そこで役に立つのは、Copytrans Managerというソフトウエアです。ポータブル（つまりインストールは全くいりません！）である上に、iPodやiPhoneにあるファイルを自由に追加・削除できます。立ち上がりは早いし、一覧性もとてもいいです。このリンクからでもダウンロードできます。これで、iTuneをいちいち使わなくても、iPodやiPhoneへファイルを転送したり、中にあるファイルの削除したり、属性を変更・編集したりすることは可能になります。
    画面は以下の通りです。インターフェースもすっきりしていて、一目瞭然です。
　　要注意なのは、Copytrans　MangerはiTunesのライブラリを使っていることです。iTunesが入っていない環境では動きません。

    SongbirdはiPodをサポートする時代もありましたが、今はそれをやめてしまいました。実に残念なことです。

いつかからかわかりませんが、以下のように、Control Centerというウインドウが新たに設けられて、そこから、従来のCopyTransを起動できます。ただし、ポータブルではなくなりました。他には、住所録や、写真、iTunesライブラリの編集、移動を管理できます。iPodの完全バックアップもできるようになりました。

　機能は以下の通りもっと充実していて、大変使いやすくなっています。

　しかし、CopyTransで映画のmp4ファイルをiPad Airにコピーしたら、原因不明のエラー（-12894）で再生できませんでした。
　調べてみると、WinX HD Video Converter Deluxeでは確実に変換できることを分かりました。実際やってみると、確かにAVIはMKVフォーマットの映像をmp4に変換し、それを無事にiPad Airで再生できました。

    Copytrans Manager is a great software for managing files in iPod or iPhone directly, without going through iTunes.
    We all know that iTune will a device's contents with those in the pc, to which the device is connected. This means it is hard (or impssible?) to manage contents for different Apple devices on the same computer, with the same user account, also the same disk space.
But this Copytrans Manager can do the copy (import, file transfer) or delete directly! It still requires iTunes to be installed, since it uses the libraries of iTunes. But one can drag files directly into the iPod, and delete as well, without being worried about the contents in the device being wiped out.
    The screen capture below is in Japanese, but it has English, Spanish, French and German versions too.
    One more great thing about it is its simplicity. No hassle of installation, just a simple executable file. Portable!
    By the way, Songbird used to have the same feature, but unfortunately it decided to stop supporting it some time ago.
